OUR TOP 7 ADVENTURES TO EXPERIENCE IN ST. LUCIA
WHEN VISITING ST. LUCIA, your one (and probably only) challenge will be to balance your desire for rest and relaxation with the right amount of adventure. The landscape and terrain beckon visitors to explore and have incredible adventures … but where to start? And how do you balance time spent on the beach? Here are our seven top adventures to experience while in St. Lucia.
First up, we suggest Soufriere Volcano and Mud Baths. This is quintessential St. Lucia! Nowhere else in the world can you literally drive IN to a volcano! Don’t worry, it’s dormant and has its own dedicated team of scientists continually studying it, so it’s very safe - not to mention a great selfie opportunity. The volcanic soil is super rich in minerals, and when mixed with spring water, creates mud baths. Whether you jump in for the healing properties or just for fun, this is a great and unforgettable adventure!
Next up, check out Diamond Falls and Botanical Gardens. There is something entrancing about waterfalls, and Diamond Falls are no exception! You can even swim and splash around in the pool at its base. To get to the falls, you’ll take a leisurely stroll through the St. Lucian wildlife - almost as gorgeous as the falls themselves!
Our third adventure destination is Rodney Bay and Pigeon Island.
Did you know Rodney Bay used to be smaller, and that Pigeon Island is more of a peninsula? It used to be an island, but St. Lucia built a causeway connecting the island to the mainland, causing Rodney Bay to nearly double in size. Best of all, this is one of the most idyllic locations for resorts, so a day trip or excursion is quite feasible. What is there to do? Just about everything! Not only are there great beaches and incredible restaurants, but there’s an old historical fort on Pigeon Island to explore, as well as countless water activities like snorkeling, parasailing, or day charters.
Since St. Lucia is an island, you have got to have a water adventure! Number four on our St. Lucian adventure list is snorkeling at Anse Cochon. The snorkeling is spectacular in many places, even if you can’t make it here specifically, BUT Anse Cochon has arguably the best, most colorful reef in St. Lucia.
How about mixing a culinary experience into your adventure? St. Lucia is ready to deliver - tour a Chocolate Farm! Seriously. It’s quite fascinating to see this unique process and surround yourself with the lushness of the farm. Best part? Touring a chocolate farm typically involves sampling the product. You can even create your own chocolate bar!
On a hunt for the most picturesque beach? We’ve got two words for you: Sugar Beach. Number six on our list, is an easy win. Super soft sand, great location, plenty to do, and incredible sights! Sugar Beach is literally tucked away in a cove between Gros Piton and Petit Piton.
No, we didn’t forget … we simply saved the best for last! For the ultimate St. Lucian adventure, head to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the place that St. Lucia is most known for: The Pitons. This iconic duo consists of Gros Piton and its sister Petit Piton, which lies just to the north of Gros. How do you tell the difference between them? Gros is taller and has a more gradual slope. Petit, though not quite as tall, has nearly vertical slopes! Both are open for hiking (or climbing!) depending on your comfort level, or there are great paths nearby to get incredible views of The Pitons.
The only thing left is deciding where to start! There’s good news, too: St. Lucia is small enough that it is possible to do all these activities in one, week-long trip! When you’re ready, we're ready to create the ultimate St. Lucian adventure for you!
